Mannum Township

A central location to consider...

Mannum is situated on the broad reaches of the Lower Murray and is easily accessible by road, being around 1 hour drive from Adelaide.  Mannum's accessibility makes it one of the most popular day trip venues in South Australia, and with its natural beauty, unique history and heritage, the area offers a great opportunity to relax and enjoy.

Mannum is known as the "Birthplace of the Murray River Paddle Steamers", its early heritage developed around the personal desire of William Randell, to operate a steamboat on the River Murray. In 1853 Randell launched his Paddle Steamer "Mary Ann" 5km upstream from the present site of Mannum, and in doing so, opened up one of the most romantic eras in the history of Australia.

Currently Mannum offers fantastic modern facilities including 2 hotels, a well appointed motel with restaurant, local club, holiday accommodation, caravan park, supermarket, take-away food outlets, hospital and Community college.

Our sporting and recreation facilities are excellent with clubs and venues providing golf (on a challenging 9 hole fully greened course - to be expanded to full 18 hole course), bowls, tennis, netball, football and cricket. Indoor sports are catered for in the Mannum Leisure Centre with activities such as squash, basketball and badminton, along with a fully equipped gym.

It is the River Murray however that Mannum is best known for, popular for boating, fishing, skiing and swimming.
