Our River Playground - A Wonderful Place to Live or Holiday
Mannum is a town of natural beauty, unique history and heritage, and offers residents and visitors alike the chance to enjoy life in a stunning environment.
We are widely recognised as the "Birthplace of Australia's Murray River Paddle Steamers" and have an active boating tradition.
Mannum township currently supports a population of somewhere around 2000 residents, which is growing, as estates like Mannum Waters create an opportunity for more people to move in to town and experience the fabulous lifestyle that we can't keep a secret anymore.
A large collection of cruise and holiday boats operate from Mannum banks and the historic town wharf at the reserve, including the Proud Mary, Murray Princess, the Jester and Murray Venturer. If you have never been on a cruise or holiday on the river then you are missing out on a wonderful chance to see the river in all its glory, it's time to contact one of the boats that operate cruises and see for yourself.
A stunning sight - the Proud Mary and Murray Princess side by side, docked at Mary Anne Reserve
The PS Marion, an original steamer of the paddle boat era is currently moored in Mannum, owned by the local Mid Murray Council, near the heritage listed Randell Dry Dock (in Mannum's Main Street) and has been restored to full steaming capacity. Limited public cruises operate from the Visitor Centre which is open daily.
Alternatively you could always look at hiring a houseboat and navigating the Murray yourself, there are many houseboat operators in Mannum including multiple SA Tourism Award winners, Unforgettable Houseboats, who have a large fleet available and will call Mannum Waters home in the near future.

providing the perfect opportunity for busy people within Mannum and the surrounding district to be able to shop locally, whilst still being able to use the existing Main Street services.

Just A Short Drive Away
Mannum really is just an hour's drive from the city!
Accessible by road, around 80kms if you take the scenic route from the North side of town, about a 50 minute drive from Tea Tree Gully through Gumeracha and Birdwood, and a similar distance if you take the freeway and Monarto turn-off.
Many people are not aware of the 'short-cut' to Mannum that takes you through Monarto, and if you enter directions to Mannum into your GPS it will usually take you via Murray Bridge. If you'd like to come for a drive to Mannum and want the 'short-cut' directions from the Monarto turn-off on the freeway (which saves about 20-30 minutes driving time each way), I've attached a map to help show you the way.
See this link to a pdf document showing the short-cut!
Our location means there are many people who live in Mannum and commute to work every day, and in addition to being easily accessible to the city we are also a central location to reach other towns - 20 minutes to Murray Bridge, 45 minutes to the Barossa Valley, 40 minutes to the hills, Hahndorf and Mount Barker, 60 minutes to Gawler, 90 minutes to the Riverland and 90 minutes to the Fleurieu Peninsula.
If you consider Mannum for everyday living you will never be far from where you need to be, or if you are thinking of a holiday destination you can pack up from work at 5pm on Friday afternoon and be in Mannum by dinner time, ready to enjoy the fabulous river lifestyle on offer. So........'Weekends That Last Forever...' and coming home to Mannum Waters can be achievable.
Welcome to Julie Wohmann
I'd like to introduce our newest employee - Julie Wohmann. Julie will be here to greet you when you visit on the weekends, taking over from Jenna, who we wish all the best as she pursues a different career path.
We think Julie is a fabulous addition to our team, having extensive knowledge of the houseboat industry and a passion for the River Murray and township of Mannum, has bought a berth within Mannum Waters, and is looking forward to living here with her husband permanently once the marina is completed.
